John (“JP”) McKeefe served NFSA as Vice President of Labor Relations, representing NFSA’s contractor members in various multiemployer negotiations and overseeing the overall labor relations function. John also contributed significantly to the development of NFSA’s Internet Services Department. He was an important part of NFSA’s history and was a valued member of NFSA’s national staff. John Patrick McKeefe
November 21, 1939 – September 7, 2020
ROCKY MOUNT – John Patrick McKeefe, age 80, of Rocky Mount formerly of Ridgefield, CT joined his wife in Heaven on Monday, September 7, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Queens, NY on November 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Andrew McKeefe and Grace Bonyay McKeefe. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn McKeefe; and his son, Scott McKeefe.

John attended Power Memorial Academy, Fordham University, and Fordham Law School. Upon graduation he began an extensive law career as Vice President of Labor Relations at G.T.E. and National Fire Sprinkler Association. Upon retirement, John moved to North Carolina and continued to use his legal talents as a North Carolina Guardian ad Litem. He was known in the community to lend a hand providing transports for dog rescues and volunteering as Range Officer at Old Hickory Gun Club. He was recently heartbroken by the passing of his wife Marilyn of 51 years in June.

John is survived by his daughter, Allison McKeefe Costas and husband, Chris, of CT; his mother-in-law, Antoinette Schmitter of CT; his sisters, Barbara Gunter of FL and Grace Gery of NC; his nephews, Bobby and Michael Gunter of NJ and Chris Gunter of LA; and his adopted Southern Family.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
