SAM Council Election

The NFSA “SAM” Council consists of twelve (12) individuals and is a vital part of NFSA. There are four seats now available for three-‐year terms through the end of 2022.
We have included a list of candidates with information about each one. Each SAM Member is eligible for one vote and that ballots can be obtained from Vickie Pritchett, Secretary of the Corporation. Please review the information on each candidate and complete the ballot by 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

Information about the Candidates
Jim McHugh, Incumbent, A.G.F. Manufacturing
Jim McHugh’s family advanced the Fire Sprinkler industry by introducing the original AGF
TESTANDDRAIN® valve over 30 years so. Since then, AGF Manufacturing, Inc. has been dedicated to
creating specialized valves and unique products that improve the function and simplify maintenance
of fire sprinkler systems. As the current President of AGF, Jim leads the development,
introduction, and manufacture of those products with a focus on domestic manufacturing. Jim is an
extremely active member of NFSA, serving as Vice Chair of the current SAM Council as well as
several other committees. He’s involved with the industry as an active member of NFSA, NFPA, SFPE,
ASPE, AFSA, and IFSA and is honored to continue AGF’s tradition of service.
Phil Schechinger, Incumbent, Anvil International
Phil is the Vice President of Fire Products and International Sales for Anvil International.
His involvement in the Fire Sprinkler Industry has been primarily on the sales and distribution
side of the business. Anvil International has been his employer for over 20 years – prior to that
he was with Victaulic Company of America, and in the distribution business. He has held a seat on
the SAM Council for the past three years and enjoys contributing to the continued success of the
Fire Sprinkler Industry and the vital cause that drives the passion of the members of the NFSA. He
enjoys and values the opportunity to serve this association and welcomes the challenges and
strategies we present as a group. He would be honored if elected to serve an additional term
supporting the industry and his fellow manufacturers and contractors.
Chris Sharp, Incumbent, Viking Group, Inc./Viking SupplyNet
Chris has worked in the fire protection industry over the past 21 years for two companies focused
primarily on manufacturing and distribution of sprinklers, valves and devices. His career in fire
protection has included responsibilities in the areas of sales, operations, business development
and management. In his current role with Viking as Vice President – Strategic Partnerships, he has
the opportunity to engage with SAM members frequently, as both a manufacturer/supplier, as well as
a customer in a number of cases.
It has been his pleasure to serve on the SAM Council for the past 18 months, and it would be an
honor and privilege to continue to represent the SAM membership if elected to a new three-‐ year
term. He thanks you for the consideration.
David Stevens, Jr., Incumbent, Core and Main
David has been part of the Fire Sprinkler Industry for over 35 years, beginning as a firefighter in
Dover, NH, with promotions eventually to Assistant Chief, authoring the first comprehensive
municipal adopted two-‐ or more family residential sprinkler ordinance. Started with Tyco
International with the Grinnell Supply division as a residential sprinkler product expert, with a
career spanning multiple positions, eventually leading to Global Director of Business Development
and finally to Business Development and Strategic Accounts at Core and Main. David is a very
passionate fire protection advocate, appearing on Bob Vila’s “Home Again” promoting fire
sprinklers. Have been an active NFSA member since 1988, as well as NFPA and multiple fire sprinkler
organizations. He sincerely requests your vote to be re-‐elected to the SAM Council.
Larry Sander, Victaulic
Larry has 25 years of experience in the fire protection industry. He is involved in the development
and marketing of a variety of products manufactured for our industry including grooved fittings,
sprinklers, flexible drops, devices and valves. He has held a variety of positions
with Victaulic; currently responsible for all Fire Protection efforts in the Eastern United States.
