  • Updated inspection, testing, and maintenance protocols in NFPA 25 to include stronger requirements for inspection timelines, clearer definitions of deficiencies and impairments, and added testing for aging components like dry sprinklers and fast-response heads. These updates align with NFSA’s push for proactive system maintenance to ensure reliability. 
  • Refined where NFPA 13R systems are appropriate, particularly in residential occupancies which contributes to balancing life safety needs with design practicality and ensures proper application of systems based on risk and building height. 
  • Greater emphasis on owner responsibility and documentation new requirements tie system performance and layout verification to the building owner, emphasizing the importance of ongoing compliance.  
  • Aligned terminology and requirements across all model codes and standards to reduce confusion and increase consistency in fire protection enforcement and application.
