Description:

Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control on Fire Protection Systems with Sean Cleary, Backflow Prevention Institute

All fire systems are not the same. Questions arise on what protection is needed on fire protection systems to protect the public water system. Is protection always required? When we install backflow preventers, we change the hydraulic of any system. Pressure is lost and thermal expansion must be considered. In this one-hour training session we will look at what is needed in specific installations and why that selection is made. We will also consider how we decide on the hazard level of a particular system type and on what influence the addition of chemicals has in making that judgment.

Sizing Your Fire Protection Air Supply – Air, Dry Air, and Nitrogen with Ray Fremont Jr, General Air Products

What makes a compressor a fire protection air compressor? What does horsepower have to do with sizing a compressor? (HINT: Nothing!) In this presentation, we will define a Fire Protection Air Supply and review the available types of equipment. We will go over the information necessary to properly size your air supply for a given application and leave attendees with a better understanding of the equipment that they are working with and why it functions the way it does in dry and pre-action systems.
