Join Us for the National High-Rise Retrofit Summit

The National High-Rise Retrofit Summit, hosted by the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) in cooperation with the Chicago Fire Department, will take place June 8–10, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, bringing together national leaders to advance practical solutions for safer high-rise buildings.
This national, solution-focused summit brings together key stakeholders from across the fire service, housing, property management, and policy sectors to address one of the most pressing challenges facing our communities: modernizing life safety in aging high-rise buildings.
Across the country, thousands of high-rise residential buildings, many constructed before modern fire protection standards, continue to operate without automatic residential fire sprinklers. As today’s fire conditions evolve, even small fires can rapidly escalate, placing residents, responders, and communities at significant risk, particularly within affordable housing.
The Summit is designed to move beyond discussion and deliver practical, data-driven solutions. Through a structured framework—Problem → Evidence → Policy → Implementation → Action—participants will explore cost-effective retrofit strategies, policy pathways, and real-world implementation approaches that protect lives while preserving housing stability.
