Balina Place Project: Habitat For Humanity of Greater Boston

L to R; Dave Dion; Eric Burdette, and Gerry Patton
This project is a three family, two-story, attached, wood frame dwelling, being constructed in the Dorchester neighborhood section of Boston, MA by the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston.
The Project Manager is Gerry Patton, Director of Construction with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston.
NFSA Member J.C. Cannistraro of Watertown, MA is the contractor performing the installation of an NFPA 13-R fire sprinkler system. Eric Burdett, Operations Manager of the Fire Protection Group, met with NFSA New England Regional Manager Michael Young for a site visit in early February. They were joined by Mr. Patton from HFH and Dave Dion, Superintendent of Labor at J.C. Cannistraro.
The labor on the fire sprinkler installation is being performed by employees of J.C. Cannistraro, who are also members of UA Local # 550 Sprinkler Fitters of Greater Boston; Project Foreman Len Cipullo, Journeyman Frank Dineen and Fitter Apprentice Anthony Brown.
The homes will be occupied by three families who are required to contribute 300 hours of ‘sweat equity’ to the project. This labor involves the occupants in the process, thus giving them a feeling of ownership and pride in their new home.
