Sprinkler Fitter’s ITM Seminar

Fire Sprinkler Fitters in St. Louis were able to learn about new inspection, testing and maintenance procedures at a training night on January 14th. The seminar presented inspection issues based upon NFPA 25 and the scope of the inspector’s duties related to documentation and impairments. NFSA ITM Specialist Vince Powers, a former fire sprinkler contractor, spent a good portion of the class discussing obstruction investigation, an often misunderstood section of the code. “The fire protection industry and NFSA is making great strides in passing laws to require installation of fire sprinklers. Unfortunately, in many cases once sprinklers are installed they are not properly maintained. NFPA 25 is widely adopted throughout the U.S. however it is not widely enforced. When sprinklers are properly installed and maintained, they have proven to be the most effective means for protecting life and property against fire,” said Powers.
