Jeffco Fire Marshals Train in St. Louis

Members of the Jefferson County Fire Marshals Association attended a workshop on January 9th at the St. Louis Sprinkler Fitter’s Local 268 Training Center. Business Manager Bob Stuart presented information about sprinkler systems and underground mains, while Training Coordinator Mark Ronecker conducted a hands-on presentation of several different systems as well as electric and diesel fire pumps. During the training, Stuart told the fire marshals that “fire sprinklers save lives and property” and that the fire marshal and inspector’s role is crucial to effective and fair enforcement of the codes while training is the foundation.

Sprinkler Fitters Local 268 has over 400 members and has been protecting lives and property in the St. Louis Area since 1894. In 1901, the Sprinkler Fitters Protective Union of St. Louis was the first sprinkler union to affiliate with the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters.
