Sprinkler Save at Salem, Oregon Hospital

On August 8th, firefighters credited the fire sprinkler system with extinguishing a fire in a building at Salem Health Hospital.
According to the Salem Police Department, smoke was reported in one of the hospital’s buildings at 6:30 a.m. The Salem Fire Department, Salem Health officials and the Salem Police Department responded to the scene to locate the source of the smoke.
Investigators say the fire was located in an elevator shaft and the smoke affected several floors of the building.
Patients in the building were relocated and patient care was not effected. Staff, patients and visitors all safe! No injuries were reported.
Thank you to John Berres of Cosco Fire Protection for sending in this sprinkler save. Cosco installed the system that saved the hospital circa 2010-11!
