Oregon Senate Bill 771 Hearing at the Senate Committee
With the backing of NFSA’s Columbia-Willamette Chapter, Oregon Senate Bill 771 had a hearing at the Senate Committee on Business and General Government on March 26.
The bill would authorize the Oregon Construction Contractors Board to issue “endorsements” to all contractors engaging in fire sprinkler work. Many stakeholders weighed in, and while there was general agreement that the concept of the bill was sound, aspects of the bill’s language created some confusion.
Work will continue, with the goal of passing a bill that works for all parties and sets a minimum set of standards for all who install and inspect water-based fire sprinkler systems in the state of Oregon.
